Hi,

I have the DE0 board and the Opencores I2C master core.
Has someone already used it and has an example for how to use the core 
for sending data to and receive from a slave on the bus with VHDL??

No, not really. It connected the core with different Softcores.

If I remember correctly, it works without hazzle...
