i saw the specification of de1-soc. it says that de1-soc has 24 bit DAC vga output and the de2-115 has 8 bit DAC vga output,., what is the difference between them?
24 bit = 2^24 = 16777216 colors 8 bit = 2^8 = 256 colors But you didn't read well. In ftp://ftp.altera.com/up/pub/Altera_Material/12.1/Boards/DE2-115/DE2_115_ User_Manual.pdf page 52 I found:
1 | the Analog Devices ADV7123 triple 10-bit high-speed video DAC (only the higher 8-bits are used) |
you can find the DE2-115 also support 24 bit (=16M) color. Duke
