what does the resistor R1 in this circuit do?
R2 should be the load to be supplied via the darlington.
The voltage source on the left should turn on/off the darlington switch.
I jus don't know what the purposse of R1 is

Same as the other parts: just nothing.

The whole circuit is bullshit.

No transistor is activated, no current flows thru resistors.
