Hello guys,

I've purchased a Digilent Atlys board recently. I'm trying to use impact
to program it, but all my tried have failed. The USB driver ist
installed successfully, but:

1- Adept won't detect the device
2- There's no plugin for ISE 14.1

What can I do about that? and if the problem is simply with the plugin,
why doesn't Adept find the device? Anyone has experience with Adept?

I downloaded the driver from Exar, the link can be found here:

http://www.digilentinc.com/Products/Detail.cfm?NavPath=2,400,836&Prod=ATLYS

With all the other stuff relevant.

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thank you.

Since ISE 13.x (12.x??), ADEPT ist supported and following
different forums I'd believe it works. Have you tried ADEPT
with 13.x?

Just spend few minutes and try to find out how ADEPT is
installed and work under 13.x and search for the releated
docs for 14.1.

I have tried to do that, and failed, and that's why I posted the
question here.

There are two tools, one as plugin and the second
as standalone. Have you tested the standalone tool
(failed to detect the chain?,to program? etc..),
it's independent of the ISE version?

What is this standalone supposed to do? I just tried the plugin, and
tried to play with the files directories to get it to work.

Please guide me to the standalone version (or tell me what's it supposed
to do).

Sorry, I haven't the standalone tools atm installed
(an no digilent board either). But one remark: I've
installed 14.1 and just observed, that ADEPT is
already installed (must be done by ISE!?).

The tool is supposed to communicate with your board
without using ISE's Impact (primarly for programing,
JTag IO..).

On digilent's homepage, just go to "products\software"-page
and you'll find the tools, drivers and docs. And you
may find some manuals for mature products like basys2
etc. helpful (they use this standalone tool and have
good tutorials).

Have you ever read the README of the Digilent tools? D gives you a tool
for Linux and even Windows, with this tool you can directly program the
FPGA. And it works, I've been there, done that...

If this is working and if you want to program the Atlys flash device,
then Xilinx' Impact comes into play. And this also works, been there,
done that...

Besides this, there are several threads in the Xilinx forums (Spartan
and/or 'other boards'). Since you didn't mention it: I assume you are
running with a SuSE 8.0 as your PCs OS, correct?

I'm using Windows actually. I never found any flash programs. All I
found is the webpage I shared and some related tools. I searched a lot.
All I found is this:

https://www.digilentinc.com/Products/Detail.cfm?NavPath=2,66,828&Prod=ADEPT2

and this

https://www.digilentinc.com/Products/Catalog.cfm?NavPath=2,66&Cat=12

I downloaded Adept System, and the program couldn't find the driver. I
expect at least that Adpet finds the device!!!!!

Could you please explain what I have to do? Thanks.
