Many many years ago, I remember there's been a GCC port to MS-DOS,
through a so-called "DOS extender" (basically, a 32-bit bootloader).
I think it's been called DJGPP (after DJ Delorie, the author of
that port).

No idea whether this would still be able to build with nowadays'
GCC source code though.

The key point is that GCC inherently requires a 32-bit host machine
to run on, while stock MS-DOS was only a 16-bit OS.
