hardware testing on msp430

hello,
 I have umpteen launchpads lying around here, where I'm not sure if they 
work perfectly.

 I would now like to develop a program with which I can test each 
function of the msp430 (the 20 pin chip).
 I just do not know how can I best start.

 maybe someone has a couple of ideas for me?
