Choosing the Right Microcontroller for Low-Power IoT Applications

Hi everyone,

I'm currently working on a low-power IoT project and need some advice on selecting a suitable microcontroller. The main requirements are:

Ultra-low power consumption (battery-operated, needs to last months or even years)

Enough GPIOs to interface with multiple sensors (temperature, humidity, light)

Integrated ADC for sensor readings

Support for common communication protocols like I2C, SPI, and UART

Preferably a small form factor and affordable price

So far, I'm considering the following MCUs:

STM32L0 series (ARM Cortex-M0+)

TI MSP430 family

Nordic nRF52 (for integrated BLE support)

Atmel SAM L21 (ARM Cortex-M0+)

Has anyone used these in similar projects? Are there other microcontrollers you'd recommend for ultra-low power applications? Also, any tips on power management strategies would be great!

Thanks in advance!
