Hi

just to ask if anybody knows a 16Bit wide seriel input device with 16
parallel outputs. If nobody knows I will use 2 8bit.

You could use the Microchip MCP23S17.

Good idea but it is part of a high end amplifier so I like to avoid any
unneccessary oscialltion, even the micro offers sleep mode.

just get a call and it seems the National 74F675A can solve teh issue

Curious, is there any real advantage over chaining two 74HC595s?
